DECEMBER MEETING MINUTES

 

Meeting commenced at 1055

 

1.  Secretary makes a motion to accept the minutes from the November CPOA meeting. Jeff Creighton seconded. All in favor.

 

TREASURY REPORT

    

1.  Mike Backs makes a motion to accept Treasury Report.  Terry Wood seconded. All in favor.

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

1.  Bob Crowell states that we may give our business back to Deco-Tech for our CPOA shirts and logo.

 

2.  Received a "thank you" letter and card  from Special Olympics for sponsoring bowling.

 

3.  Future community projects were discussed, such as the Penguin Plunge, Habitat for Humanity training. If anyone comes up with an idea, they shoud run with it. Our goal is to do something for the community each quarter.

 

4  Volunteer Dinner discussed.  Do we want to go with the buffett at the Mohegan Sun? Other alternatives is Frank's Grill in Old Lyme. Room fits

20-25 people.  We normally spend $800 on this function.

 

5.  Do we need to print card stock for bereavements, etc.? Jeff Creighton makes a motion to put $150 towards CPOA cards. HSC Dubert seconded. All in favor.

 

6.  Toys for Tots went very well again this year, though our role was more limited. As a side note, 54 second graders donated toys to Toys for Tots...that's the spirit.  We may set up a station at the Academy next year.  We are not authorized to work alongside the Navy while in uniform.

 

7.  Katrina volunteers are eligible for awards, so make sure those you supervise know and are recognized.

 

OLD BUSINESS

 

1.  John Goulet has the $50 Wal-Mart gift cards to distribute.

 

2.  We will donate up to $200 towards the Special Olympics dinner.

 

3.  The Salvation Army function on 17 December went very well. Officer Candidates also volunteered. Delivered upwards of 50 meals, along with trees and gifts.

 

GOOD OF THE ORDER

 

1.  Jeff Creighton reminded all of us about the deadline of 31 Decebmer for Person of the Quarter/Year. You can nominate from outside your division.

 

2.  John Goulet made a motion to end meeting.  Terry Wood seconded. All were in favor. Meeting ended at 1130.
