commenced with Pledge of Allegiance
No Treasurer’s Report for January. Combined with
February’s report.
CPO Fogt investigated various investment options.
Current rates of return are low, so a rainy day investment will be investigated
at a later date.
Minutes from December meeting read. Minutes
accepted.
Shirts – Chair is CPO Bob Crowell. CPO Crowell
showed an example of a jacket with CPOA logo selling for $43.00. Company CPO
Crowell works with just needs a minimum order of 10 items (shirts, jackets,
etc.) MCPO Creighton will advertise these items on his bang list.
A jacket was ordered Mr. Schrage of Aramark as a
thank you for all his work.
Football Concessions – MCPO D’Amico advised that he
would not be expanding concessions to more events. Poor sales at a wrestling
event barely covered costs.
Presidents Report
a. MCPO Kevin Isherwood is
committee chair on membership with National.
Discussed increase in dues, and the need for new members, both locally
and nationally.
b. Workers Appreciation Dinner
– CPO Hessman volunteered to chair committee to find a venue for appreciation
dinner. Motion seconded. Passed unanimously.
c. Newsletter – mail labels of
chapter members to mail out newsletter needs to be updated. Missing
approximately 50 members. Membership is currently at 150-160 members. Need a
more accurate count.
Special Olympics – received thank you notes from
Norwich Special Olympics for CPOA’s assistance with events throughout the year.
Events included bowling and softball. Special Olympic athletes signed a thank
you card also.
Looking for volunteers to help with Penguin Plunge
on March 8th at Ocean Beach. Motion put forward to support event.
Motion seconded, passed unanimously.
Spaghetti Dinners – CPOA has hosted spaghetti
dinners for Chief Petty Officer Academy students. Purpose is to recruit and
retain members. 80% of members already affiliated. National has a program to
help reimburse chapters for this type of function, but decided not to put a
motion for partial reimbursement.
Chapter of the Year – putting together a nomination
package. Will include all the good works done by CPOA during 2002-2003. Package
must be in my July.
Good of the Order
Looking for 20 volunteers for Hearts in Bloom.
Volunteers need Feb 24/25 to help deliver vases/flowers.
Enlisted Association needs help. CPOA needs to help
support.
Next meeting: Academy Galley, 25 Feb 03 at 1500.
